A man who stabbed a former friend in the shoulder during a fight outside his flat in Duston, has been told he could face “years” in prison.
The court heard how James Moore, aged 23, of Newton Road, was having a party at his flat on July 1, 2011, when his former friend, Craig Markie, rang an ex-girlfriend, who was at Moore’s party.
Moore began shouting in the background, prompting Mr Markie to send him a text message to say he was coming round to “see who the big man is”.
He arrived in a car driven by Moore’s cousin and the pair then had a fight in front of the flat, before they were split up.
During the trial, the jury heard evidence about how Moore appeared to conceal something up his sleeve before the fight.
Mr Markie then realised he had been stabbed in the shoulder, as well as in the middle of the back. He told the court blood began “gushing” from the wounds.
When confronted, Moore told his friends he stabbed him “because that’s what you do in fights.” He was arrested four days later, but denied the charges.
He was convicted by a majority verdict at Northampton Crown Court on Tuesday of wounding with intent to commit grievous bodily harm. He was also convicted of having an article with a blade.
He will be sentenced next month.
