Corby paedophile who sexually assaulted young girl jailed for four years

A Corby man who sexually assaulted a young girl has been sentenced to four-and-a-half years in jail.

Mark Wootton, aged 32, appeared at Northampton Crown Court after he admitted two charges of sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13 and two charges of making indecent photographs of a child.

Recorder Martion Hurst said Wootton had a “sexual interest” in young children but did not conclude that he was dangerous, and therefore did not give him an extended sentence.

He said: “You are an isolated, lonely man who spends most of his time looking at his computer, and looking at indecent images of children.

“I do not at this moment believe you are a danger to the public.”

Wootton, of Rockingham Road, Corby, was sentenced to a total of four-and-a-half years in jail. He is likely to serve half his sentence in custody before being released on licence.

He will be subject to an indefinite sexual offences prevention order.
