People planning Holocaust Memorial Day events from all over the East Midlands will be making their way to Northampton Museum and Art Gallery on September 17.
The free workshop, organised by the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust (HMDT), will provide inspiration, guidance and opportunities for people planning events for Holocaust Memorial Day, big or small.
Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) takes place on January 27 each year and is a time for everyone to pause to remember the millions of people who were murdered or persecuted during the Holocaust, Nazi persecution and in subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Bosnia, Rwanda and Darfur. HMD is the time to honour the survivors of these regimes and challenge ourselves to learn the lessons of their experiences to create a safer, better future.
HMDT Chief Executive Olivia Marks-Woldman said: “On September 17 we hope to welcome people from across the East Midlands who want to find out more about organising an activity for HMD. Commemorating HMD in every part of the UK is crucial to ensure everybody learns the lessons of the Holocaust.”
Last year 93 activities took place across the East Midlands for HMD. For details, visit www.hmd.org.uk
