A new study has been launched to bring together the ideas of all of the faith groups who form an active part of community life in Northampton.
Northampton Borough Council, with the Northampton Inter-Faith forum, have begun a study to explore faith community needs.
The findings of the study will help the council and other service providers understand how different faiths are represented across the town, the issues that face them.
Councillor Tim Hadland, Northampton Borough Council’s cabinet member for regeneration, enterprise and planning said: “We have a long tradition of being a very warm, friendly and welcoming town that has for centuries accepted people of different faiths into our community.
“It is important to recognise that across Northampton our faith communities form an important part of community life. They are often involved in many projects to help people and make our town a better place to live in.
“This study will improve our understanding of our faith communities and help to focus on building stronger relationships so we work together more effectively.”
The first stage of consultation is underway. Conversations are taking place with members of the Northampton Interfaith Forum which brings together community leaders from the seven largest religions in Northampton: Baha’i, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Islam, Jewish and Sikh.
