Saints players dropped in to Northampton General Hospital to brighten up the Christmas period for ill children.

Several players gave out bean bears and mini rugby balls yesterday to children who have to spend time on Disney Ward.

The children’s wards are a very popular place this time of year.

Many organisations think of NGH’s sick young patients and donate presents.

Players from Northamptonshire County Cricket Club were also at children’s bedsides yesterday.

Lee Dickson, the Saints and England scrum half, said he also wanted to repay hospital staff who cared for his son Josh, now aged three.

He said: “He came here with eczema and I saw how good the nurses were with him.

“Oliver will be telling all his friends about his special day when he gets out.”

Becky Grant, from Kingsthorpe, mum of Bradley Grant-Crouch, aged 12, said: “When I heard who was coming I collected my

daughter and came straight round here.

“It’s great what a boost they give the parents as well as the kids.”
