Northampton-based Acumen Distribution Ltd has taken delivery of 23 new Mercedes-Benz Actros 4x2 tractor units as part of its ongoing investment strategy and expansion plans.
Acquired through Widnes-based Riverside Truck Rental, the new tractor units will be used for Acumen’s inbound automotive contracts. The Mercedes-Benz Actros 4x2 tractor units have been chosen for their reliability, low operating costs and, in particular, fuel efficiency.
Managing director Chris Doughty said: “After rigorous testing we chose the Mercedes Benz Actros, primarily on its fuel economy but were also impressed with the innovative interior and driver comfort. As we have taken these new vehicles on a three-year R&M operating lease, we are able to have good visibility of our costs throughout their time with the company.
“The new trucks underline Acumen’s continuing investment in its fleet as well as its commitment to reducing carbon emissions. The company now operates an extensive range of equipment including specialist car transporters, articulated vehicles and curtain sided rigids & trailers.
“Acumen understands that its equipment and facilities have to be of the highest quality and of proven reliability in order to work in a time-sensitive market. To this end, the company is continually investing in the latest equipment and technology.”
