A new Northampton youth club has opened its doors to children in year six of school.

The Tuesday Club will run at Wootton Community Centre in Curtlee Hill on Tuesdays from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.

Activities will include crafts, sport and cookery and youth club staff will also advise the young people on their upcoming transition from primary to secondary school.

Jenny Evans, who will help to run the club, said: “We want to hold a workshop for year six students to support their transition into senior school.

“The idea is that the youngsters who come to Tuesday club from different schools will get to know each other and will then know a friendly face when they move into senior school.”

The youth club, which has received funding from the Northamptonshire Association of Youth Clubs and Wootton and East Hunsbury Parish Council, will also host workshops about road safety, walking to school and bullying.
