Northampton Town have even more of an incentive to score this season as every goal scored by the Cobblers in the remainder of the npower League 2 matches will raise money for charity.

Aspers Casino, in Commercial Street, Northampton, is donating £25 to Cynthia Spencer Hospice for every goal the Cobblers score until the end of this season. General manager Gerald Larcombe said: “We have been partners with Northampton Town for a number of years and we are also great supporters of the hospice and the work it does for local people. To bring the two together in a fun and interesting way is a win-win for everyone.”

Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd said: “We are delighted to hear Aspers are backing us and the hospice in this way. The lads have already found the net 52 times and are on form to score more. We are looking to add as many goals as possible to our tally, firstly to boost our league position but also to raise money for a very good cause.”

Earlier this year, Aspers Casino raised more than £1,800 for the hospice and the group’s Aspinal Foundation by members of staff taking part in a skydive.
