Almost every ethnic minority group from Northampton was represented by children at a sports day at the Racecourse.
The event was put on by The Association of Northamptonshire Supplementary Schools to bring together different cultures.
Alaa Abouzanad, chairman of the association, said: “The supplementary schools teach children language and culture, but this is the only time they are all together. Not even mainstream schools have a mixture like we have here today.”
There are 17 supplementary schools in Northamptonshire, teaching among other languages Italian, Greek, Turkish, Arabic, Polish, Latvian, Lithuanian and Serbian and Bengali.
Pupils from nearby mainstream schools Malcolm Arnold Academy and Vernon Terrace Primary also got involved.
Sports included volleyball, cricket, football and basketball, and several stalls served national foods.
