A night of musical theatre will help to raise funds for the Chron and Macmillan’s charity appeal.

A Northampton mum-of-two will host a concert at the Picturedrome pub in Kettering Road on Wednesday, November 28, at 7pm, to raise funds for our appeal and the Lauren’s gift charity.

Mrs Hartnett, aged 25, who lives with husband John and their two daughters in Abington, has organised the evening of musical theatre, which will include songs from the West End and Broadway like Oaklahoma, We Will Rock You and Whistle Down The Wind.

She said: “I have organised a few charity shows in the past. A lot of people I know have suffered from cancer and I just wanted to raise some funds to help the Northampton unit.”

Half of the funds from the show will support the Chronicle & Echo and Macmillan Cancer Support’s appeal to raise £1.55 million for a new blood cancer unit at Northampton General Hospital.

The other half of the proceeds will go to Lauren’s Gift, a charity set up by a mother and father from Abington, after their daughter Lauren died, aged 17, in 2004.

Lauren died two weeks before the Boxing Day Tsunami and her family asked for donation at her funeral, which allowed them to help fund a music and art project to help traumatised children in Thailand.

Mrs Hartnett, who runs her own events management business, went to the same school as Lauren, and said: “I have raised money for Lauren’s Gift many times and will continue to do so.”

Tickets for the musical theatre event cost £5 per adult and £3 per child or senior citizen.

For details or to buy tickets call Northampton 404 221.
