A clean-up morning is taking place as part of a clean-up fortnight organised by the Northampton Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID).

Local businesses will join together to litter pick, sweep the streets and scrub shop fronts in order to make a noticeable difference around the town centre and encourage more businesses to get involved, between 9am and 11.30am on Wednesday, September 23.

Over the two weeks, funding has been put in place to spruce up vacant premises and allow deeper cleaning of the shops and streets by contractors. Hot spot cleaning areas will also focus on washing pavements and removing chewing gum.

Chair of the BID and owner of Tangerine Red, a town centre print business, Jessica d’Aulerio said: “Businesses have asked us to support them in keeping the town centre clean and tidy and this clean-up day enables businesses to come together and make a visible difference to all areas and to make a real difference to more neglected parts of our town centre.”
