CCTV images have been released of a man alleged to have pushed over a staff member in a Northampton Co-op after he was caught loading items into a bag.

A force spokesman said the man had initially been caught shoplifting in the Co-op outlet in Semilong Road, between 10.35am and 10.50am on Tuesday, December 15.

The man entered the shop and put items into a bag, but returned them to the shelf after shop staff began watching him.

When staff tried to stop him from leaving he pushed one of them to the floor before making off, leaving the shop worker with minor injuries.

The offender was a white man in his early to mid-20s, about 5ft 5 inches and of stocky build. He had short brown hair, was clean shaven and was wearing a multi-coloured top and carrying an orange bag.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have any information about the incident, or who may recognise the man in the picture.
