Capello 8/1 to sign Terry
John Terry is the man whose alleged actions sparked the current England chaos and it’s interesting to see he’s been pushed out to 4/7 to be part of England’s Euro 2012 squad.
Terry, who appeared to have Fabio Capello as a key supporter, has seen his odds to make the 23-man squad lengthened to 4/7 from 2/5 by William Hill now that a different manager will take charge of the team in Poland and Ukraine this summer.
However, Sky Bet remain fairly convinced the former captain will make the trip. He’s 1/6 with that firm.
Hills offer 5/2 (from 7/4) that Terry is not included by whoever takes charge.
Terry is due to stand trial on a racially-aggravated public order charge on July 9 – eight days after the Euro 2012 finals draw to a close.
And if Capello does go back into club management, he’s 8/1 with Ladbrokes to sign the Chelsea defender.
France were eased slightly to 6/4 for the Six Nations despite getting off to a winning start against Italy last weekend.
Wales’ last-minute penalty success over Ireland on Sunday saw them shorten from around 11/4 to a general 7/4, while England’s lacklustre slog against Scotland means they’re still available at 5/1.
Ireland meanwhile have drifted to 10/1 with Sportingbet, Scotland are 100/1 while Italy can be backed at 750/1.
STUART Pearce has been cut to land the England manager’s job permanently after being handed the reins on a temporary basis.
The FA announced yesterday afternoon that under-21 boss Pearce would take charge of the team against Holland later this month.
The move follows Fabio Capello’s resignation on Wednesday night.
Pearce, available at 20/1 before Capello quit, was cut from a best 15/2 into a general 6/1 after the FA’s announcement. The former international was also Capello’s matchday assistant.
Harry Redknapp remained a best of 2/5 (Coral) for the permanent role.
Redknapp has already been backed for the role by senior players Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand, while Paddy Power decided to pay out on the Spurs manager, a move which they said would cost them “almost £50,000”.
Meanwhile, England have been shortened up in the outright Euro 2012 market as a result of Capello’s decision to go.
