A new judge has signed up for Strictly Northampton...Saints rugby player, Paul Diggin.
Paul joins BBC Northampton Treasure Quest presenter, Jonathan Vernon-Smith, and former Miss Northampton, Nadina Knight, on the panel for the show at Royal & Derngate on Saturday November 23.
Paul said: “It has come about totally by accident. I got an email from David Summers (editor of the Chron) and he asked if I fancied being a judge. I thought it was the safest place for me to be! “I think it will be absolutely hilarious. My young cousin is a huge Strictly fan and as soon as I was asked I sent her a text to say, ‘guess what I’m doing?’ She is going to come all the way from Somerset for the night. “The dance floors of Northampton have seen a lot of my shapes at the likes of Auntie Ruth’s and NBs. I have been known to bring my own lino, throw it down and bust some moves. “I think it is going to be absolutely brilliant, I know a couple of people doing it and I’m sure it will be really good fun and it is for a great cause.”
All the profits from Strictly Northampton go to Cynthia Spencer Hospice. The show is sponsored by Fong Spa and is produced in association with the University of Northampton, Step By Step Dance School, the Chronicle & Echo, BBC Radio Northampton and Image magazine.
