The roadworks, which will include improvements to the existing pedestrian crossings and pedestrian walkways on the north side of the river will begin on Tuesday, May 3.

A new single carriageway road bridge is set to be installed between Cliftonville and Nunn Mills Road, which will link the Bedford Road into the new campus across the River Nene.

A new footbridge, linking Beckett’s Park with the new campus and on to Delapre Abbey is also under construction.

The work is all part of the University of Northampton’s Waterside Campus development, which will regenerate a 58 acre brownfield site.

The new campus is due to open in September 2018.
