Rail commuters are being advised to avoid Northampton this morning after a lorry carrying skip slipped down an embarkment onto tracks north of the town.
London Midland, which operates trains to and from Northampton station, is running a “shuttle service” between Rugby and Birmingham New Street and coach transport between Rugby and Northampton.
A spokesman for the company said via Twitter: “An obstruction on the line has blocked all lines to the north of Northampton.
“An hourly shuttle service will operate between Rugby and New St. Road transport between Rugby and Northampton.
“London Midland tickets are accepted on Virgin Trains and Cross Country Trains.”
Services from Euston to Crewe are currently unaffected by the problem.
