A new Marks & Spencer food store will open in Sixfields, Northampton, next month, creating 40 jobs.
Store manager Ian Pulis will cut the ribbon to officially open the Simply Food store on the site of the former JJB Sports Shop site in Sixfields Retail Park, on Wednesday, July 10 at 10am.
The opening day will also include an in-store DJ, a glass of complimentary fizz and a shopper competition.
People visiting the new 15,000 sq ft store between noon and 2pm on the opening day will also have the chance to win a share of £1,000 of M&S Gift Cards in a competition.
Mr Pulis said: “We’re really looking forward to opening our doors at the brand new M&S Simply Food at Sixfields Northampton in a few weeks’ time.
“The store is a great addition to the Sixfields area and is our first in Northamptonshire - we can’t wait to invite our new customers to come and experience the very best of M&S food.
In addition to stocking all the traditional M&S food ranges, the store will also sell wines, beers and spirits shop and will include an in-store bakery and a 52-seat café serving up fair-trade tea and coffee, as well as sandwiches, cakes and a range of hot snacks.
The store will also offer shoppers the opportunity to order either online or in-store from M&S’s full product range, including clothing, with free next day delivery when collecting in-store.
M&S Simply Food at Sixfields, Northampton will be open between 8am and 8pm Monday to Saturday and from 10.30am to 4.30pm on Sundays, with free parking available at the retail park.
The new M & S store, which is just over the road from a large Sainsbury’s supermarket, was given the go-ahead by Guildhall planning officals last October because the town centre was not suitable for the store.
