A Northampton husband is set to have an extra special Christmas this year after winning Northampton BID’s first Golden Ticket Prize Draw... £1,000 to spend at town centre businesses.

James McClean, known as Stirling to his friends and family, was told of his win on Saturday morning and rushed home to share the good news with wife, Alison, and the rest of their family.

The 47-year-old, from Blackthorn, who works in security, posted his winning entry last week in Market Walk’s gold coloured postbox.

“I never expected to win,” he said. “My wife has already planned where to spend lots of the money and the kids are over the moon.

“What an amazing Christmas we are going to have.”

Golden Ticket Prize Draw winners can choose which town centre outlets to spend their winnings in, and Stirling is planning to treat his stepdaughter to a meal at Buddies in Dychurch Lane, his wife and friends to a meal in the Italian restaurant, Papa Cinos, and buying trolley loads of festive food from Sainsbury’s.

Mr McClean added: “My wife is also looking forward to treating herself and her parents.

“I’m thinking of buying a tablet, Georgia will have a spending spree in Top Shop and our little one is already thinking about a special outfit in time for our trip to H&M.

“A huge thank you to the Northampton BID for making our Christmas truly special.

“We are all regular town centre shoppers and firmly believe in supporting the town.”

Chairman of Northampton Town Centre BID, Sue Roberts, said: “We have £3,000 more to award so don’t miss out and enter today.

“Winners will be able to spend their prize money right here in Northampton.”
