The finalists of the Chronicle & Echo’s Local Business Accelerators competition to find and accelerate the most promising young businesses have been announced.

The finalists are the BOO Gallery in Castle Ashby, Prestige Catering Equipment in Northampton and Concept6 Beauty in Northampton.

The businesses have won the LBA prize of free advertising in the Chron and mentoring from Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce, as well as the chance of progressing to the national stages of the competition which will see the overall LBA winner receive mentoring support from the Dragons’ Den’s Deborah Meaden, the campaign’s national ambassador.

All the shortlisted entries will also receive a year’s free membership of the Chamber of Commerce.

Chron editor, David Summers, said: “I would like to congratulate the winners of this year’s Local Business Accelerators who should all feel extremely proud to have got this far in the competition.

“I would also like to thank Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce for their continued support to this campaign and for the generous offer of support to the businesses.”

Five hundred local newspapers have taken part in the campaign to provide a boost to promising young businesses. Research found that local newspaper advertising is highly valued by small business owners with 60 per cent agreeing that advertising in the local paper is the best way to attract customers.
