A developer has been chosen to build a new office block on the former gas holders site in Northampton

Kier Property will develop the 20,000sq ft project at St Peter’s Waterside. The site covers two hectares of brownfield land between the River Nene and St Peter’s Way.

Extensive demolition has recently been taking place, with the former gasholder, ten houses and four business units making way for the development.

Pip Prongué, Kier Property director, said: “We are delighted to have been selected as preferred developer for this important regeneration project in Northampton.

“We look forward to working in partnership with WNDC and Northampton Borough Council to deliver an exciting office development, which will stand as an iconic building in the centre of Northampton for many years to come.”

St Peter’s Waterside is one of several projects in Northampton being supported by Kier.

In addition to the nearby Innovation Centre, Kier’s Construction division is also building the North Gate Bus Station and a student accommodation complex.
