Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership’s (NEP’s) Job Broker team are looking to find enthusiastic and hard-working young people keen to take their first steps into the footwear industry.
The apprenticeship scheme is recruiting for the third consecutive year with Northampton’s Prada-owned company, Church’s.
Helen Errington, head of HR at Church’s, said: “It is really important to create a wide range of opportunities that attract and foster young talent for the sustainability and growth of Church’s as well as manufacturing across Northamptonshire as a whole.
“This is why we are once again embarking on our apprenticeship programme in association with NEP’s Job Broker team who do all the hard work in assisting us to recruit and retain apprentices of exceptional standard year on year.”
Over the last two years ten apprentices have started their career at Church’s through the apprenticeship scheme.
This year, there are six to eight further positions available offering 16-24 year olds an intensive training programme of up to two years. This involves learning how to make world-class quality shoes from start to finish whilst earning up to £257 per week.
Jake Seal, who was one of the first apprentices on the scheme, said: “When you’re unemployed, you get used to that as being the way it is. When I look back now, I see things from a totally different perspective. Having such a great opportunity and earning my own money is such a big motivator.”
The deadline to register interest is Friday June 6 for the 2014 apprenticeship with information sessions taking place the following week. The scheme will begin in September 2014.
