The creator of hit television drama, Downton Abbey, will talk about the programme during a visit to Althorp House this summer.

The talk by actor and novelist, Julian Fellowes, will be part of the Althorp Literary Festival, which is held at the stately home on the outskirts of Northampton every year.

A spokesman for Althorp said: “We’re delighted that Julian will be speaking about his highly acclaimed series at the literary festival.

“The authors participating at this year’s event comprise the most exciting line-up that the festival has ever had the privilege of hosting.”

As well as writing Downton Abbey, Mr Fellowes has also written the Sunday Times’ bestsellers, Snobs and Past Imperfect.

He also appeared in Monarch of the Glen and Our Friends in the North and wrote the script for the Oscar-winning film Gosforth Park.

He is due to appear at the literary festival on Thursday, June 13.

Other authors who will appear at the festival include former Monty Python star, Michael Palin, comedian Sandi Toksvig and former politicians Ann Widdecombe and Paddy Ashdown.

The festival, which is the tenth to be held at Althorp, runs from Thursday June 13 to Saturday, June 15.
