Burglars who tried to break into Northampton garage dressed like The Stig are foiled

Bike helmet-wearing burglars tried to force their way into a garage in Northampton, but left empty handed when they were disturbed by the owner.

A CCTV image released by Northamptonshire Police shows one of the suspects using a screwdriver to jemmy the garage lock at a house in Laburnum Crescent, Abington, sometime between 12.50am and 1am on Monday, May 2.

The owner of the house heard a noise, looked outside and spotted two men on his driveway.

One of them jumped onto the back of a motorbike, which was being ridden by a second man, before they both made off from the scene.

The victim examined the garage to find the door had been damaged in an attempt to force open the lock.

The first man is described as wearing a white motorbike helmet and puffy dark-coloured jacket. He was carrying a screwdriver.
