Staff returned to the premises the next day to find the main door and an internal door had been badly damaged.

Staff member Haley McCulloch said the burglars caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage but had left with nothing as no money is kept on the premises overnight.

Speaking to the Chron, she said: “It was a completely mindless crime as we are a charity shop and they have caused so much damage to the doors.

“But it was nice of them to leave a fiver behind.”

The damage has now been fixed but the shop had to shut for two days leading to a loss of valuable income.

If you would like to donate to the charity shop call Northampton 752457.

Northants Police is investigating the crime but nobody has been arrested in connection with the burglary.
