Drivers have been forced to cross the lights where Spencer Bridge Road and the A428 meet with extreme caution since yesterday.

Motorists making a right from Spencer Bridge onto Harlestone Road in particular, have had to edge perilously into the middle of the crossing as traffic approaches from four directions.

But Northamptonshire County Council says it is working to fix the fault.

A spokesman said: “Electrical contractors are currently on site to repair the fault and are working to get the traffic lights functioning again as soon as possible.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and would like to assure the travelling public we are doing everything we can.”
