BREAKING NEWS: Pedestrian injured after collision with lorry in Northampton town centre

Emergency services are attending an accident after a pedestrian was involved in a serious collision with a lorry in Northampton town centre.

The accident happened at around 1pm at the junction of Gold Street and Horsemarket.

The air ambulance was called to the scene. About 15 police cars and three East Midlands Ambulance crews are also in attendance.

Northamptonshire Police are asking pedestrians and motorists to avoid Horsemarket and Mare Fair where possible and a cordon is now in place.

Eye-witnesses said they believed the injured man was crossing the road on a mobility scooter.

The pedestrian’s condition is not yet known though the air ambulance has left the scene
