BREAKING: Air ambulance called to serious collision on main Northampton route as road is closed

Motorists are being warned of severe delays in Northampton after a stretch of a main road was closed off following an accident.

The A45 eastbound between junction 15 of the M1 and the A508 turn is currently closed following the collision.

Police were called to the junction 15 roundabout by the M1 slip road at 2.15pm.

Eyewitnesses have reported the air ambulance landing at the scene in the last few minutes and police say one woman is injured.

The collision appears to be one of a number of incidents causing travel disruption around the wider Northampton area.

A broken down lorry on the M1 northbound near junction 16 for Northampton West is causing tailbacks,

Also along the A45 eastbound, one lane is blocked between Riverside and Great Billing Interchange because of a broken down vehicle.
