Conservative Northamptonshire county councillor for Braunston and Crick Steven Slatter has stepped down due to ‘personal reasons’.

He had been a member of the authority’s health, adult care and wellbeing scrutiny committee.

But a Conservative party spokesperson has confirmed Mr Slatter’s resignation, just over a year after being elected to the council.

The spokesperson said: “Councillor Slatter had left for personal reasons as he will be taking up a new job in London.

“We want to wish him all the very best in his endeavours and we look forward to electing a new Conservative candidate for Crick and Braunstone.”

A date for a by-election has yet to be set.

The news comes within days of the resignation of Conservative Councillor Catherine Boardman, who stepped down as cabinet member for children and education.
