A spokesman said: “A five-phase plan to treble capacity for brake pad production over the next ten years was launched today by UK manufacturer EBC Brakes involving the construction of further warehousing at Northampton and a complete refit of its Bristol manufacturing plant where all brake pads will continue to be made.

“Fueled by a surge in demand for its products globally, new employment will include immediate hiring of 30 new staff and a further 100 being added over the coming five years.

“This will underpin employment security at all EBC locations and consolidate its position as the leading UK manufacturer of premium and performance brakes for cars and motorcycles,” the spokesman added.

According to the company’s website, EBC produces 100 percent of its brake pad range in its own factories in the UK and USA, 100 percent of its own motorcycle brake discs/rotors in its UK facility and a large proportion of its automotive brake discs are also UK and USA made.

The website states: “Still privately owned, EBC Brakes is a world leader in the manufacture of brake components. In 1979 in Europe, EBC commenced developing the world’s first aftermarket range of products. After a successful launch in Europe, EBC expanded into the USA market in the mid-1980s.

“Expanding rapidly in the automotive industry, EBC Brakes has become a world leader in sport, high performance and race brake pads and disc/rotors with a massive trademark range of products. Recently EBC launched another ground breaking material with its ECO friendly Ultimax 2 brake friction material that completely eliminated all heavy metals and sulfides.”
