The largest taxi company in Northampton is set to takeover its direct rival in the town, it has emerged.
In a letter sent out to all staff and drivers of Bounds Taxis, director David Wright states the company will soon be purchasing 100 per cent of the shares in K Cars (Northampton Ltd).
Mr Wright said that K Cars would “continue to keep its own identity”, with all calls to 01604 604040 being booked to K Cars drivers.
The letter states: “K Cars is the second largest private hire company in Northampton and has an extremely good reputation and loyal company base.
“Consequently, it is essential that we maintain this reputation by keeping the K Cars brand going and operating it separately to Bounds.
“We also appreciate that customers want the same familiar drivers arriving to collect them when they book a taxi.”
Bounds Taxis, which has been based in Northampton for 57 years, has taken over a number of its rival taxi firms in the town.
Mr Wright said that it was “no secret” that when Bounds purchased other companies in the past that K Cars had “directly benefited” with “customers and drivers choosing to leave Bounds and work for K Cars.”
All calls for K Cars will be received at a central control room in Marefair where all staff from K Cars will be trained to use the new system.
Mr Wright said: “Several months of preparation have gone into ensuring a smooth and painless transfer, ensuring that on the day of completion, business will continue without any inconvenience to customer’s and driver’s earnings.”
