Biking enthusiasts preparing to descend on Billing Aquadrome for an annual rally are having a curry named in their honour.

Vinnie’s, an Indian restaurant based at the heart of the leisure park, has invented the Biker Bash Balti to mark the event, which takes place from today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday) is expected to attract thousands of bikers from across Europe.

Manager Sam Rahman said: “Every year bikers come in huge numbers to Billing and we thought it was only right to give them something to really make their visit extra special.

“When people travel here for the weekend they want a proper meal and the Biker Bash Balti will give them just that. We’ve given the traditional Balti a modern makeover to fit in with the bikers’ tastebuds. It’s got a real kick to it and is extra meaty.”

The Biker Bash will feature live bands on an outdoor stage, displays, a ‘have-a-go’ burn out area, tattooists and a scrapheap raft challenge.

Vinnie’s is now a fully-fledged Indian restaurant, having started out as a mobile serving hatch more than 20 years ago.

Mr Rahman, who took over the premises in April, said he was looking forward to welcoming new customers to the restaurant over the summer.

He added: “Vinnie’s is a real Northampton success story that a lot of people don’t necessarily know about. It has grown and grown over the years and has become part of everyday life here at Billing.

“The Aquadrome is a really impressive facility and people come here in their thousands.

There’s a lot of big events lined up for the summer and we hope to play a big part in all of them.”
