Benefit fraudster used Job Seekers Allowance to help fund burger van business in Northampton
John Warwick, aged 55, of Pembroke Gardens, Spencer, Northampton, made false statements to the Department of Work and Pensions in order to obtain Job Seekers Allowance and Employment Support Allowance from December 2011 to January 2013.
Northampton Magistrates’ Court heard Warwick was aware of his crime and was using the money, which totalled £8,785, to help pay for a burger van.

Hide AdThe court heard he had placed the van in a building site in the town and was earning up to £50 a day.
Warwick pleaded guilty to two charges of dishonestly claiming benefits.
Deputy District Judge Ruth Fudge sentenced Warwick to a 12-month community order, including the completion of 200 hours unpaid work. He must pay £170 costs.
