Gregg Wallace visits Northampton foodie
Masterchef presenter Gregg Wallace visited a Northampton foodie to personally cook her a meal after she won a competition with a family recipe.
Gregg stopped off at Roberta Casentieri's narrowboat yesterday, where she lives in Gayton, near Blisworth, to cook her stuffed meaty marrow beef rounds, which won her a place in the MeatMATTERS campaign booklet.
The nationwide campaign is run on behalf of meat manufacturers in the UK to educate and encourage people to enjoy meaty recipes.
When Gregg found out in a recent survey that 33 per cent of people have never helped prepare a family meal and 29 per cent of 18 to 24-year-olds do not see the value of a family meal, he joined MeatMATTERS to launch the recipe competition to find our all-time favourite nostalgia dishes.
He said: "I thought Roberta's dish was absolutely stunning. I love marrows. I don't see why people use mini-courgettes when a great, big, fat British marrow is what I'd rather have.
"Not only is it tasty, it's massively inexpensive. I thought 'that's a winner'."
Roberta, whose dish takes pride of place on the front cover
of the booklet, said: "It's slightly surreal having Gregg here. It was an old family recipe that I have quite fond memories of. It's been very
nice. Gregg can come back any time."
