Young people interested in trying beatboxing and street dance are in for a treat this summer, with Royal & Derngate’s four day-long Arts Slam Summer Holiday project,
Open to ages 14 to 21, this fast-paced, creative project, led by professional artists, will explore a world of beatboxing sounds and street dance rhythms. No previous experience is necessary.
Running from Monday 1 to Thursday 4 August, from 10.30am to 3.30pm each day, anyone taking part will learn key techniques in fun workshops, collaborating with others to produce their
own beatboxing and street dance pieces.
A spokeswoman said: “They will discover new ways to create beat patterns, music words and dance moves, working with the theatre’s workshop leaders, who are all fully CRB/DBS checked.”
Places for the Arts Slam Summer Holiday Project are priced at £120 per person and can be booked by calling Northampton 624811 or visiting www.royalandderngate.co.uk.
A limited number of free bursary places are available, through the Sir Thomas White Bursary Award scheme, which is open to young people aged between 16 and 21 who have lived in Northampton Borough for at least five years.
