An artist’s impression has been released of a suspected burglar who stole cash from an elderly couple’s house in Northampton after he pretended to be a builder.
Two men called at the home of an elderly couple at about 11.15am on Friday, June 27 and told them that tiles on their roof needed replacing.
The men then asked the couple to show them upstairs to the area of the house under the part of the roof supposedly in need of repair. One of the offenders said he was going to the car to get materials, while the other opened a draw in one of the rooms and took a substantial amount of cash before leaving too.
The offenders are described as white, clean-shaven men with a chubby build. One was about 5ft 2in and aged about 30. He wore a cap, a grey tracksuit and trainers.
The other is described as aged about 60, 5ft 9in with grey hair. He wore a cap and a navy shirt and trousers. He was carrying a rolled-up notebook.
Anyone who knows anything about the incident, or who saw suspicious activity in the area that morning, is asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
