The Good Loaf, which has its main bakery and café on Overstone Road, is expanding to include a weekly market stall from tomorrow, Wednesday May 4. And from June the popular bakery will expand even further with a stall at Northampton Market every Wednesday and Saturday.

The Good Loaf’s breads are entirely hand-crafted and baked daily at sunrise using flour sourced from the local Heygates mill. As a social enterprise, The Good Loaf offers work placements to vulnerable women to allow opportunities to gain practical skills and experience in a real work environment.

Suzy Van Rooyen, chief executive of C2C Social Action – the charity behind The Good Loaf – said: “Opening a stall at Northampton Market is a fantastic opportunity for The Good Loaf to expand further and provide more employment opportunities to women so that they can break the cycle of poverty, unemployment and offending.

“We are passionate about bringing beautiful and nutritious bread to local people and are looking forward to meeting new customers at the market.”

Councillor Jonathan Nunn, chair of the Market Advisory Group, said: “We are delighted to welcome The Good Loaf to Northampton Market and hope their stall will prove to be as successful as the bakery and café on Overstone Road, reaching more new customers with their fantastic breads and pastries.”
