A former head boy’s impressive A-level results will see him head off to study aeroplane engineering in one of a number of top grade success stories at The Duston School this morning.
Year 13 students at the Berrywood Road school have been filing in to pick up their grades throughout the morning.
Early indicators suggest the number of its sixth formers achieving the top A* and A grades has more than doubled on last year from 14 to 35.
Director of sixth form Natasha Weston, says that she is “immensely proud” of this year’s cohort.
“There has been an increased number of successful applications from students electing go to the top universities in the country,” she said.
“The Duston School sixth form is going from strength to strength, it is led by an outstanding and dedicated team who proudly say that, this year, our results have enabled a large number of students to accept places at Russell Group Universities.”
Ms Weston said students who took vocational subjects, particularly in health and social care have faired well, with a number of distinction and distinction* grades handed out.
Former head boy, Duncan Hamill received three A* grades, in further maths, maths and physics, and will now head off to study aeronautical engineering at Southampton University.
Laura Johnson was also celebrating her results of two A grades and a B, which will see her go to Cardiff University to study international relations and politics.
