Tributes have been paid to the granddaughter of the founder of a large haulage company in Northampton after she died in a car crash.
Susan Tovey, aged 64, was driving home to Wales on Sunday after visiting her aunt and uncle, who live in Harlestone Road, Northampton, when the Ford Ka she was driving was involved in a collision with a Vauxhall Vectra.

Mrs Tovey, who was the gran
ddaughter of Charlie Butt, who started up C Butt Ltd in 1926, was declared dead by paramedics at the scene after her vehicle left the road and went into a ditch. The crash occurred on the A425 from Southam towards Leamington Spa.

Her aunt, Sylvia Gayton, said: "She was the most loving, caring person.

"We are so shattered by what has happened. We were like surrogate parents to her and she used to come to visit us in Northampton regularly.

"She was such a nice person and I never heard her say a nasty word about anybody and nobody had a nasty word to say about her."

Mrs Tovey was born in Northampton and grew up in St James before she married and settled in Pontyminster in Gwent from the age of 27.

Officers from Warwickshire Police investigating the collision are appealing for any witnesses to call Pc Marcus Franklin on 01926 415415.
