Prediction: A farmer will be found to be the cause of this pollution. He will have allowed an overflow of slurry to permeate into the system.
He will subsequently be given a token fine by magistrates who are sympathetic to the plight of the farming community and understand that rural life is often not fully understood by townsfolk.

Cyril Nugent,
East Meon, Hampshire 29/06/2008 11:09:10
I received a telephone call from my Chairman, who, having heard of the pollution at Northampton, urged me to contact Anglia Water and offer them the loan of instrumentation to trace cryptosperidium in the drinking water system. As our sensors are able to measure the volume of bacteria in drinking water, and can monitor the status of the fluid in real time he felt we would be able to help to reduce the inconvenience felt by the need to use power to boil the water intended for drinking and for use in food preparation. Our help was refused on the basis that Anglia had sufficient instrumentation for the emurgency. We wish them luck, for unless they have any, boiling water will become a necessity for some conserable time.
