Hotly-tipped Northampton singer VV Brown confesses she is a little nervous that "no one will turn up" to see her perform in a town centre music shop next week.
The singer from Little Billing, Northampton, who wowed crowds at Glastonbury last weekend and releases debut album Travelling Like The Light later this month, will appear at HMV in the Grosvenor Centre for a performance and signing session on Tuesday.

She has been tipped for success by the BBC, who included her in its Sound of 2009 poll alongside Lady Gaga and Little Boots.

She told the Chronicle & Echo she was "nervous and excited" about the forthcoming performance, which will take place on the same day new single Shark In The Water is released.

VV, aged 25, said: "I'm very excited. I have been trying to get my management and booking agents to get me a gig in Northampton for ages.

"I used to go to the Roadmender when I was younger, a lot of the bands I saw were up-and-coming bands and I would go and see my sister's band.

"I have been working really hard towards this. I used to spend hours in HMV when I was at school and college and I dreamt about being on the shelves, so it's exciting and nerve-wracking."

It will also be a chance for the ex-Kingsthorpe Community College student to perform in front of people she knew while she was growing up.

She explained: "It's going to be quite weird. It's not going to feel like a store where I'm VV Brown, it's one where most of the people know me. Northampton is one of the places where you get to know people's faces.

"We really take our live performances seriously so it's going to be a great live performance, but I'm a bit nervous in case no one turns up."

Ian Skinner, assistant manager at HMV in the Grosvenor Centre, said the store was expecting a good crowd for the appearance.

He said: "She's hotly-tipped and when we have someone local in it's like a family, everyone wants to help out."

VV Brown will appear at HMV from 5.30pm on Tuesday.
