Residents had to be evacuated from a block of flats in Northampton after a blaze, believed to be arson, broke out in one of the homes.
Fire crews were called to Hawksmoor Way, just off Harlestone Road, at about 7pm on Saturday after one of the neighbours noticed a strong smell of smoke.

The woman, who works as a care worker, then called the emergency services and made sure everyone was out of the building.

She said: "I ran downstairs and helped the old lady who lives down there to get out and made sure there was nobody in the building."

The front room of the flat where the blaze broke out was badly damaged by smoke and there was smoke damage to the rest of the property, but nobody was hurt in the incident, and nobody was in the flat at the time.

The blaze is being treated as suspected arson and anyone with information can contact Northamptonshire Police on 08453 700 700.
