Dancing on Ice and X Factor star Ray Quinn has been unveiled as the star name in this year's Derngate panto.
The TV heart throb will lead the cast in the role of Jack in Jack and the Beanstalk and will appear alongside his real-life girlfriend Emma Stephens.

Jonathan Kiley, Executive Producer said: "We are thrilled that Ray will be appearing here in Nort
hampton for the first time.

"Over 8,000 tickets have already been sold for Jack and the Beanstalk eight months ahead of its opening night."

Quinn has become one of the UK's much loved performers appearing in the X Factor finals and winning Dancing on Ice. Ray wowed audiences when he appeared in the arena tour of the ice show.

Following his appearance in the final of the X Factor in 2007, Ray released his first album Doing It My Way. In 2008 he starred in the West End production of Grease at the Piccadilly Theatre playing Danny.

Ray will be taking to the ice again with Torvil and Dean's Dancing on Ice Tour 2010 in April when he will be back to defend his title as Dancing On Ice Tour Champion with new partner Alexandra Schauman.

Emma Stephens trained at Laine Theatre Arts and shot to fame when she starred with Ray in the West End musical Grease as Sandy. Her previous credits include Starlight Express and Saturday Night Fever.

Jack and the Beanstalk runs at Royal & Derngate from Friday, December 10 to Sunday, January 9. Tickets can be booked on Northampton 624811 or www.royalandderngate.co.uk.

He is a brilliant young singer dancer ice skater, he has loads of personality charm and good looks. I'm sure that the Derngate would have liked to have brought Robbie Williams to Northampton but believe me Ray Quinn will be ten times better.

Northampton are very lucky to have a performer of Rays calibre performing in panto this year. Not only is he an acclaimed West End performer (having played the lead in Grease and previously another lead role, and about to play a lead role in Dirty Dancing again in the West End), he is an accomplished dancer (British, European and World Champion in latin and ballroom at junior level as well as British Disco Champion) an award winning actor for his role in Brookside as a teenager and runner up on X Factor as a singer. Quite apart from his success as winner of Dancing on Ice. And all by the age of 21. He was very successful in Sleeping Beauty in Birmingham last year and I am sure will be equally so this year.
