Halifax Home Insurance's research found that the average person in Northampton wears £469 worth of jewellery a day - more than anywhere else in the country.
It says that Northampton is closely followed by Glasgow (£468) and Wrexam (£460), while Northampton people are also ranked third in the country for hoarding the most jewellery in their homes.
The report says people in Northampton have £2,919 worth of jewellery stashed away inside the home, trailing Milton Keynes (£31,86) and Preston (£3,001).
Halifax says five million Britons own over £5,000 worth of jewellery but 35 per cent of them have never had their jewellery valued, while a further 10 per cent haven't had a valuation for at least 10 years.
Martyn Foulds, Senior Claims Manager at Halifax Home Insurance, said; "Our research shows that between us we Brits own a staggering amount of jewellery and enjoy making a statement by wearing valuable items when out and about.
"However, it seems many people with expensive jewellery collections may be selling themselves short by not getting their articles valued fully and insured for the correct amount."
