A man had to kick a burning firework out of his home after it was pushed through the letterbox of his Northampton property.
The incident happened at the house in Arnold Road, Northampton, on Saturday at around 4.40pm.

"Luckily the homeowner was in the property at the time of the incident and managed to kick the firework out of the door," said a police spokesman.

"They can think of no reason as to why the firework would have been put through their letterbox."

Earlier in the afternoon, between 3.50pm and 4.30pm, a group of young people were heard to be setting off fireworks in or near to the multi-use games at the bottom of Semilong Road, Northampton.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed either of these incidents or have information regarding them.

Call 08453 700 700 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

As I said in my 'removed comment' we have been plagued with fireworks and obnoxious odours from bonfires for the last 3 weeks in Far Cotton. Idiots like these should not be allowed to have these explosives in their hands to risk other peoples lives.Isn't it time that only organizers of displays should be allowed to buy fireworks? Why do we have fireworks, not only on Guy Fawkes night, but Christmas,New Year,or whenever someone feels like setting a firework off for whatever reason. Is that better Mr Editor,

Couldt agree more with both comments! I would go further with a complete BAN! Theres supposed to be a £60 fine for mis use of fireworks in public as yet I dont know of anyone being fined!

Hopefully the kids who did this will try it again soon, but hopefully the firework will go off too soon and blow there hands off. That'll teach them!
