Two motorcycles were confiscated, five people handed official warnings and a youth arrested after a police action against motorcycle nuisance,
Officers have been out and about in Northampton to tackle the problem of motorcycle nuisance, issue which is consistently raised by members of the public as a problem.

PC Duncan Faulkner from the Delapre and Briar Hill Safer Community Team, said:
"We are really pleased with the success of the first day of this operation.

"Motorcyclists are not tolerated anywhere in Northampton if they are not ridden legally and we are determined to tackle this issue which has been brought to our attention by local residents."

Police say motorcycle nuisance is a priority for the Delapre and Briar Hill, Spencer, Kingsthorpe and Boughton Green Safer Community Teams.

The week of action will see officers out and about reminding the public and anyone they see using a motorcycle of the laws governing them.

They have set up a new e-mail address, section59@northants.police.uk where anyone who has seen a person acting in an anti-social manner can contact them and let them know what is happening.

All the teams need to know is what the person is doing, where they are and any description the person or their bike.

If someone is found to be causing a nuisance they will initially be given a warning.

If they do it again then their motorcycle will be seized and they will have to pay for the recovery of the bike plus any storage fees.

The teams will be working alongside the DVLA, the End of Life Vehicle Impound Scheme (ELVIS) and Northampton Borough Council during the week of action.
