Fire crews called to two house fires

Arsonists set fire to a property in Northampton, with five rooms badly damaged in the blaze.
Firefighters from Moulton, Mereway and The Mounts were called to the property in Longmead Court, Blackthorn, shortly before midnight on Monday.

A bedroom in the property was severely damaged by fire with four other rooms severely damaged by smoke.

A spokeswoman for Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue Service said: "The cause of the fire was arson."

Meanwhile, firefighters were called to a chimney fire at a property in Earls Barton last night.

Up to 20 firefighters from Moulton, Earls Barton, Wellingborough and Rushden were called to the bungalow in Doddington Road shortly after 6pm following reports of a fire in a 10m by 16m area of a converted loft space.
