The show will be opened tomorrow at 10am by 91-year-old Sid Wreford, who remembers the first town show held at Delapre Abbey in 1929.
The event, hosted by the Northampton Allotment Network (NAN) and Friends of Delapre Abbey (FODA), offers free entry and a £2 charge for car parking will be donated to Cynthia Spencer Hospice.
Graham Walker, FoDA chairman, said: "We are very excited about it and are hoping the weather will be good.
"It is something for Northampton people by the Northampton people.
"We hope the Delapre Family Show will become an annual event and that it will be loved by all those who remember the old town show and remembered as a grand day out by all."
The show will feature a diverse range of horticultural exhibits and displays from NAN members.
There will also be live music ranging from folk to the Northampton Male Voice Choir and visitors can watch the Haraam Egyptian dance troupe and the Razzle Dazzles children's dance group.
Children can enter gardening competitions and families are encouraged to bring dogs in fancy dress for a chance of winning a prize.
On Saturday, dog agility trainer Mary Ann Nester will be performing with her two miniature poodles Brillo Pad and Daz, who have been agility finalists at Olympia and Crufts.
Mary Ann, who will be judging the dog fancy dress competition, has been a guest expert on BBC Radio Northampton and for many years has posed as the Agility Agony Auntie for the internet magazine,
