Councillors could give their blessing to a plan to build 3,000 homes outside Towcester at a meeting next week.
South Northamptonshire Council is a statutory consultee for two 'Towcester Vale' planning applications, which would, if allowed, see the homes and a bypass being built south of the town.

A meeting to determine councillors' official stance on the development is to be held next Thursday.

Councillor John Townsend (Con, Little Brook) said: "This application is complex and of a large scale, and is very important for the long-term future and growth of Towcester.

"A number of objections to the scheme have already been raised by other consultees, such as the Highways Agency, CABE and Towcester Town Council.

"This will need to be addressed by the applicants, and the council may wish to reserve the right to make further comments on the proposals at a later date, before the applications are determined by the West Northamptonshire Development Corporation," he added.

Following the meeting, the council will forward its comments to the WNDC.

The WNDC has to take the comments into account when it considers the applications in the autumn.
