Train services between London and Northampton were hit by long delays this afternoon because of a broken-down train.
The train blocked the station at Bletchley, causing what National Rail admitted was 'major' delays of up to 80 minutes on journeys from Euston to Northampton.

Although the train was finally cleared shortly before 3pm, train services were having to return to normal following the incident.

Trains operated by Virgin and London Midland were affected.

And the goverment wonders why people won't get out of their cars and onto public transport. Not taking into account the high costs, nor the vagaracies of the M1, most drivers could make it into London in a lesser time than these unfortunate people did.

I wanted to get a train into London to go to the Motor Show the other month but because it was a Sunday there were no trains to get back home. Absolutely ridiculous.

Also a friend of mine came back from London and for some reasons the trains were out and he had to get a coach back and it took over 2 and a half hours!

Like 'Grumpy' says. It is quicker, easier and cheaper to drive so why would people want to use public transport.
