Reverend Will Adams, aged 61, will next week get on his Aprilla 750cc motorbike and, with about 30 other bikers, travel across the East Midlands.
While some of his parishioners will undertake the traditional doorstep collection of red envelopes fo
r Christian Aid Week, which begins on Monday, the former headteacher of Roade School will be powering through 160 miles of British countryside, stopping en route in Olney, with Christian Aid collecting boxes.
Bikers pay to take part and gather sponsorship, while Barclaycard has agreed to double the total amount raised.
The cleric in leathers is responsible for Astwell Benefice, six rural parishes between Brackley and Silverstone of Whitfield, Helmdon, Radstone, Syresham, Lois Weedon and Wappenham.
He said: "These bikers, aged from their early 20s to their 70s, would be out that same weekend riding for pleasure, but on Saturday they are riding both for pleasure and for Christian Aid. One of the reasons I do it, is that I'm the rector.
"It's a way of me engaging with people within the community that otherwise I may not have engaged with."
